"Power is the great evil with which we are contending. We have divided power between three branches of government and erected checks and balances to prevent abuse of power. However, where is the check on the power of the judiciary? If we fail to check the power of the judiciary, I predict that we will eventually live under judicial tyranny." - Patrick Henry
"The germ of destruction of our nation is in the power of the judiciary, an irresponsible body - working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall render powerless the checks of one branch over the other and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated." - Thomas Jefferson
"When the people fear the government, you have tyranny. When the government fears the people, you have liberty." - Thomas Jefferson
"Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it, because it is right." - Martin Luther King
"If you see injustice and say nothing, you have taken the side of the oppressor." - Desmund Tutu.
"The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." - John Stuart Mill
"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.." - Samuel Adams
"The only thing crueler than tearing children from their parents is falsely leading children to believe that they are unloved by their fathers." -Stephen Baskerville
"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." Herman Goering

Lighting Candles World Wide
A Project of Three Sides to Every Story, Inc. http://www.lightingcandlesworldwide.com/Imagine for a moment Lighting Candles World Wide and all at the same time. Imagine your child knowing we are Lighting Candles World Wide just for them.We have given this a lot of thought and we have come to the conclusion that everyone can light a candle at their home or in their home town at a designated place. You can be apart of Lighting Candles World Wide to show a united front for the children and their need to have both parents and grandparents in their lives. We have chosen December 18, 2008 at 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (more time zones below) for our first annual Lighting Candles World Wide which is exactly one week before Christmas. This is the hardest time of year for those missing their children, but especially for the children who are missing a parent or grandparents or in some cases siblings and of course their extended family.

Dads of Michigan PAC is an independent volunteer political advocacy group dedicated to legislation keeping both biological parents actively engaged in the lives of their children despite divorce and custody, in most instances. They believe men and women should be viewed equally under the law and their credo is: "fathers are responsible parents too...because the best parent is both parents." Dads of Michigan, the Michigan affiliate of the American Coalition for Fathers and Children, is also the developer of the Dads and Moms University of responsible education for teenage, divorced, and unmarried parents. A tragedy. A shock. Extremely sad news for all who knew this special man. Minister Ron Smith was one of the best friends I have ever known. Minister Ronald Smith passed away on Friday September 5, 2008 from a heart attack. I am still very shook up from this news and will let our readers know more as soon as I get it. He was such an incredible man and just recently brought the 2008 Million Man March to Michigan. Minister Ronald Smith was also the founder of the National Fatherhood Summit and was one of the co-founders of the Family Preservation Festival. Minister Ronald Smith was co-author of the book Cheated. Minister Ronald Smith was the CEO of Children Need Both Parents, Inc. Most of all Minister Ronald Smith was an amazing father and husband!
My thoughts are with Ron and his family right now.
Below is a very well known video of Minister Ronald Smith. Incredible speech which I had the pleasure of watching live in Iowa.
God Bless Ron - We ALL love you! "My brother from another mother"
From the Family of Minister Ronald Smith

We vow to press on with the vision God gave him. Everyone here appreciates your love and support through this most difficult of times.
May God continue to shine upon you.

August 6th 2008
For Immediate Release
Minister Ronald Smith
Grand Rapids, Michigan August 6, 2008 - Brian Downs, a Kent County attorney and candidate for Judge in the Kent County 17th Circuit Court in the November election is riding his bicycle 758 miles from the Capitol in Lansing to the nation's Capitol in Washington DC. Downs along with 3 other riders are signaling a message that Family Courts throughout the nation are not family friendly. The Equal Parenting Bike Trek has been organized to bring attention to what he believes should be reform in the nations court system.
Brian Downs, who has been a family advocate for the past 7 years, believes that it is the duty of our nation to protect the parent child relationship and repair this relationship when necessary so that children maintain a loving relationship with their entire biological family. Downs believes that the nation's family court system does more splitting up of families than protecting and maintaining this most important and primary relationship.
Minister Ronald Smith, CEO of Children Need Both Parents, Inc, a non-profit group located in both Chicago and Grand Rapids stated, "Our family court judges pay little attention to the damage being done to our children removing one or both biological parents from a child's life without making a concerted effort that no stone is left unturned to repair and maintain this God Given relationship."
Downs is scheduled to leave Lansing at 2:00pm EST August 7th and scheduled to arrive at the Family Preservation Festival in DC on August 15-16.
